• Visa-Free Entry for Indian Nationals: Indian citizens can now enter the Philippines without a visa for up to 14 days, provided they meet certain conditions, such as possessing a valid passport, confirmed return or onward tickets, and, in some cases, a valid visa or permanent residency from countries like the USA, UK, or Schengen states
• Implications for Medical Aspirants: The Philippines is known for its English-medium medical education, globally recognized MBBS programs, and affordable tuition fees. The new visa policy allows Indian students and their families to visit campuses, interact with faculty, and experience the educational infrastructure firsthand without the hurdle of visa processing.
• Educational Pathway: Indian students typically enroll in a BS course (approximately 1.5 to 2 years) before taking the NMAT exam to qualify for the 4-year MD program in the Philippines .
• Recognition and Practice: Medical degrees from the Philippines are recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India. Graduates must pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or the upcoming National Exit Test (NEXT) to practice in India. Additionally, Indian graduates can practice in the Philippines after completing their education, a 12-month internship, and passing the Philippine Physician Licensure Examination (PPLE) .
